OnePlus surprised us all yesterday by launching the first open beta based on Android 10 for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. That’s the same day as the general stable launch for Pixel devices. Now, we know that the first OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T Android 10 open betas will land sometime this month.OnePlus 6 and 6T will receive Android 10 open beta this month Click To Tweet
OnePlus announced the news on its official support forum, alongside the (presumably final) open beta builds for the 6 and 6T based on Android 9 Pie.
To be clear, the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T Android 10 developer previews have been going on for months now. However, those are based on beta builds of Android Q, whereas the open beta of Oxygen OS would be based on the final, stable version of Android 10.
That means that, by the end of this month, the OnePlus 7 series and the OnePlus 6 series will all have open betas based on Android 10 available. It’s also quite possible that we could see the stable version of Android 10 launch for the OnePlus 7 series — that’s just speculation at this point, though.
OnePlus’ open beta builds are usually quite stable, although they could see small problems such as app incompatibilities and battery life issues. Regardless, flashing an open beta is a safe way for users to try out future versions of Oxygen OS while still using their OnePlus device as a daily driver.
